Our achievement of finishing within the top 100 out of 1,353 other universities worldwide further cements Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»¡¯s Institute of Music¡¯s status as Malaysia¡¯s best and one of the most respected music schools in the region.

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» University became the first private university in Malaysia to be recognised as a Regional Centre of Expertise (RCE) by the United Nations University (UNU) ¨C the academic and research arm of the UN. Not long before, Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»¡¯s Sarawak campus distinguished itself as a regional leader in the promotion of the UN¡¯s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a collection of 17 global goals that cover social and economic development issues. RCE status is conferred on universities that promote education for sustainable development through research and capacity development, generating impact at the local level to promote societal, economic and behavioural change.

Hosting the My 150 Rossini Celebration ¨C an event that marks the sesquicentennial year of Gioachino Rossini¡¯s passing, Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» University opens its doors to Cristiano Maggipinto, the Italian Ambassador as well as the prestigious Rossini Opera Festival of Pesaro and the Kuala Lumpur City Opera who had worked together to organise this spectacular celebration. Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» University¡¯s recital hall was filled with the melodious sounds of Italian Opera by amazing singers like the renowned soprano Aya Wakizono.

Professor Dr. Ooi Keng Boon who specialises in the Industrial Management and Information Systems has been awarded the 2018 Publons Peer Review Award in which he was listed among the World¡¯s Top 1% of Reviewers in the field of 'Social Sciences, General'. Publons awards the top 1 percent of active reviewers in different fields of scientific research for their contribution to scholarly peer review and the number of pre-publications review completed.

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» University is now Malaysia¡¯s top private university as it had beaten their peers by breaching the top 500 of the 2019 QS World University Rankings. Ranking proudly at the 481-spot in the world, Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» University is now in the top two percent of all universities globally and it is the first time Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» is featured in the QS World University Rankings.

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» alumni Lim Yuet Kim, Lee Swee Lin and Suzanne Ling are in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2018 list for their contributions to social entrepreneurship through The Picha Project ¨C their startup that empowers refugees through food preparation and catering operations. The trio started operations in 2016 with zero capital while they were still studying. Today, they have served more than 52,000 meals to leading companies across Malaysia. 50% of all revenue is disbursed to the refugee families and more than RM600,000 has been given back to date. Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» taught them for four years. They¡¯ll go on to teach others for decades.

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»¡¯s Institute of Music (Imus) made history when it was ranked as a top 100 university in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2018. Around 1,200 universities and institutes were evaluated in the discipline-based ranking and Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» made the top 100 solely for its excellence in music, unlike other universities that also offer programmes in dance, drama, acting and theatre. The ranking also distinguishes Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» as one of Asia¡¯s top five institutions for music.
