KUALA LUMPUR, 12 June 2007 (Tuesday) - University College Sedaya International (Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³») today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jobstreet.com Sdn. Bhd.
The MoU was signed by Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»¡¯s Vice President of Research, Student and Corporate Affairs, Professor Dr. Norfadzillah bt. Hitam and Jobstreet.com Sdn. Bhd.¡¯s Vice President, Mr. Simon Si
¡°We believe that pre-employment experience is important and that students do need to be exposed to the job-seeking process even before they graduate,¡± said Mr. Simon Si. Professor Dr. Norfadzillah agreed and said, ¡°This collaboration will create a powerful channel exclusively for Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» students and alumni to deposit their resumes and seek jobs online.¡±This collaboration will see an exclusive portal being set-up by Jobstreet.com Sdn. Bhd. for Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» students and alumni. The portal will allow the deposit of resumes, obtaining up-to-date information on the current job market as well as instant job application and job application tracking. This portal is also linked to Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»¡¯s own myCo-Op Portal which is the portal that captures Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»¡¯s Co-Operative Programmes and Activities. The Co-Operative (Co-Op) Education Programme at Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» is implemented to formally integrate classroom learning with workplace training in co-operative employer organisations. It is complusory for all Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» degree programme students to complete a co-operative module comprising two months of work experience every year of their studies, beginning from Year One to their final year.
This collaboration between Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» and Jobstreet.com is seen as a strategic one for both parties as Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» has a current population of some 6,000 students while Jobstreet.com helped fill up 16,000 jobs in 2006 alone.
