5 AugÂé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» University Launches Alumni Association - Bangladesh Chapter at Perdana College
Dhaka, Bangladesh, 5 August 2009 - Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» University, together with its sister company, Perdana College, today launched the Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» University Alumni Association - Bangladesh Chapter officiated by Bangladesh¡¯s Minister of Education, Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid, the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Bangladesh, Mr. Jamaluddin Sabeh and Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» University President, Peter T. S. Ng. The launch was held at the La-Vita Banquet Hall, Lakeshore Hotel, Dhaka, attended by Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» University alumni members.The establishment of the Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» University Alumni Association in Bangladesh marks 13 years of collaborations since Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» University and Perdana College started working and investing in educating youths in both Malaysia and Bangladesh. The Alumni Association is expected to be a catalyst to forge closer co-operation between Malaysia and Bangladesh and greater prosperity for the region. In Mr. Nurul¡¯s speech, he acknowledged Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» University¡¯s role in fostering good bilateral relations between the two countries which are based on a common religion and strong economic and educational relations as exemplified by Bangladeshi students attending Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» University.
He also recognized Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» University¡¯s creative modes in educating students. ¡°Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» University promotes and markets its graduates via graduate profiles, Alumni associations and internship initiatives ¡°online¡±, which have been proven to be effective and should be emulated, adapted and adopted.¡± The Minister went on to congratulate the University for online initiatives such as the online industry placement website, My Co-Op and MyAlumni websites which serve to link former Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» University students with the latest news and activities on campus.Mr. Jamaludin Sabeh spoke on how Malaysia¡¯s Vision parallels that of Bangladesh. ¡°Malaysia¡¯s Vision 2020, put in motion by former Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad in 1991, mirrors Bangladesh¡¯s Digital Bangladesh which sets 2021 as its target year. I believe that Perdana College and Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» University¡¯s joint efforts speak volumes of their belief regarding Digital Bangladesh:2021.
Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» University hopes to set up an even stronger alumni network with the launch of this alumni association chapter in Bangladesh. The establishment of the Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» University¡¯s Alumni Association - Bangladash chapter will also pave the way for other similar chapters to be established in other countries. According to Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» University President, Peter T. S. Ng, members, past and present can maintain and foster closer ties with each other through this alumni association. ¡°It is in this spirit of sharing and learning from each other that the University sees the importance of setting up this alumni association, and work together to build a global network of alumni who will become sources of reference for students embarking on the Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» University experience.¡±
