KUALA LUMPUR, February 3, 2023 : Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» University is going transnational with the soft launch of its first international branch campus in Bangladesh.
Named Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» University Bangladesh, the new campus will be based in the capital city of Dhaka and operations will commence in May, this year. It is the first time Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» is committing to a branch campus overseas.
Higher Education Minister Dato¡¯ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said that the launch dovetailed well with the Ministry¡¯s internationalisation plans.
¡°Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» University Bangladesh will boost Malaysia¡¯s status as a global education hub and I commend Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» for this post-pandemic initiative,¡± he said at the launch event that was held at Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»¡¯s Kuala Lumpur campus.
¡°I encourage more private providers to consider similar arrangements. The Malaysian brand of higher education is synonymous with quality and we can impact international markets.¡±
The two-time Higher Education Minister also affirmed Insight Institute of Learning - Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»¡¯s local partner in Bangladesh - for its high regard of Malaysia¡¯s higher education offerings.
Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» University vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Siti Hamisah Tapsir said that Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»¡¯s new campus would initially focus on teaching and learning, before moving up the value chain.
¡°To optimise graduate outcomes and improve life chances, we will offer programmes that reflect the needs and economic trends outlined by our Bangladeshi partners,¡± she said.
¡°We will move on to prioritise research, executive education and cross-campus collaboration, in line with the organic growth of the new campus.¡±
Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»¡¯s Bangladesh campus will commence at a 45,000 ft2 city campus with 24 degree and Master¡¯s programmes in the fields of business, computer science, engineering, architecture, social sciences and design.
The campus is projected to enrol around 5,000 students over seven years. Operations will move to a three-acre purpose-built site that houses over 200,000 ft2 of state-of-the-art learning space within this period.
Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» is Malaysia¡¯s top private university in the QS World University Rankings 2023. Ranked 284, Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» is classified in the world¡¯s top 1%.
The University presently operates three campuses in Kuala Lumpur, Kuching and Port Dickson.
